Carnival on Bonaire…A beautiful tradition that every local lives by, prepares for months and where most costumes are on par with those in the Rio de Janeiro parade!
Parades
The carnival period in February on Bonaire is a big party and very fun to experience. There are several parades in Kralendijk and Rincon (don’t forget to go again in the evening) and both adults and children dress up beautifully. The floats with complete drum bands are also a happening, with so much Caribbean music you simply cannot stand still. Small tip perhaps, think of earplugs 😉
Act local
Do as the locals do; bring a chair and cool box, find a nice spot in the shade (so arrive on time) and enjoy!
I can say a lot about it, but here too the cliché is true and it is better to watch than read!
